Dude, you have always wanted a blog, haven’t you? It shows in every post. ;-) BTW, I really like the blog. Makes me feel connected when I’m such a slacker corespondent.
Oh, Em and I have moved into our new house after a weekend of intense labor. Still unpacking to do. Oh, and I haven’t even set up the internet yet.
I’m not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult. Is being born to blog a sign of virtue or mental defect? ;-)
Yeah, the correspondence thing is why we started this blog. When I’m in the US, I have so little time that I can’t face spending it in front of a computer yet more. But here, it’s even more important to stay in touch with folks back home. And who knows? Maybe it will stick. ;-)
Congrats on the new house! Very exciting. Lot o’ that going around at the moment, I guess. Best wishes with it. The pix looked awesome — I very much hope to get to visit and see it in the not-too-far-future.
Well, to be honest, this is my first celebration of this event. It has been a decade since I last read LoTR, so I decided to re-read it while we’re in Spain. So about a week ago, I was reading “A Long Awaited Party” and realized that I was nearly on top of their birthdays.
But now this date is safely on my calendar (and my Google Cal ;-) ) so I’ll hopefully remember again next year.
Oh, and to be an uber-Tolkien-geek, I sat down and re-read the Silmarillion first. It was much easier going this time, and it was fascinating. And it puts a lot of side comments and backstory in LoTR in better perspective.

Cheers,

Enjoy!
I love it that I’m not the only one to comemmorate this wonderful event each year. :)
